Here's a few ideas for using blogs and bloglines and Furl.

  • School principal -post staff news and building announcements. Make staff subscribe.
  • School principal -post school news for parents and community. (Bond Election FAQs, for example.) Somehow Jim says you can publish your blog on a 'normal' web page, so format your school web page to inclue daily announcements.
  • Remember, you can use Furl to generate RSS feeds.
  • Create a Furl account for use by all your teachers in the same department. (Share the username and pw with them all.) Create categories for text books and chapters. Have your teachers furl web sites that corellate to chapters, etc. This would create a Furl web page with a beautiful collection of sites to support all those teachers and students.
  • Advanced- it's possible to create a web page that draws content from RSS feeds. You could create a department newsletter web page that draws content from the blogs and furl accounts of your department. Then you wouldn't have to recreate a department newsletter web page, you just get your people to update their blogs! (The possibilities are making my brain flip out.)
    • Athletic department -get your coaches doing blogs, aggregate them on a department web page!
    • School web page - get your administrators, counselors, coaches, police officer, club leaders blogging and put their blogs on your page. Remember, include the department Furls (see earlier bullet), so readers have links to current studies!
    • Journalism class - get each reporter blogging. Bling! Get it?
    • (your idea here.)

Suddenly the Internet is more powerful than before!
